Not many games of footy are won in the first quarter. But looking back on the most sensational victory in the short history of the Stuttgart Emus football team, you’d have to rate the first 20 minutes of the Grand Final day playoff game for third place in the 2011 AFLG season between the more favoured Munich Roos and the Stuttgart Emus as the best team performance Stuttgart has ever produced.

The dramatic improvement in performance as the 2011 season continued was attributed to many developments, but clearly the dominating factor was the effect of a new team becomning together as a working team. The added depth of new players and also new teams supporting the Emus spured the change early in the year. Later in the season, the huge challenge to host the Grand Final gave the opportunity for the team to really show how to get the job done together, and in the end put on a brilliant event. Well done team.

The 2011 AFLG schedule has been published and can be viewed here. The Emus will visit Munich in the first game on April 16th and will then host the Rheinland Lions 3 weeks later, playing the combatants of last year’s Grand Final in the first two rounds.

On October 23rd at 14:00, your Emus will host the Staßbourg Kangaroos in our season finale.  The game will of course be held at our homeground in Esslingen. Please contact us with any questions.
