Emus,
Hopefully everyone who played on Saturday has recovered. The day started off great! 14 players and 4 fans met at the train station at 7:30, most of whom were wearing Emus team wear. The train ride to Munich was relatively mellow as most Emus don’t seem to be morning people. We hand passed the ball back and forth to pass the time and miraculously didn’t hit any passengers, all that training really paid off! When we finally arrived in Munich, it was 15 degrees and pouring down rain, we met up with four other Emus at the local monastery and had our team meeting in the only place we could find shelter. We walked up to the field in uniform and started the game.
The game was rough and scrappy, and it was difficult to mark the ball in such weather. We went hard at the ball and were present at every contest, never once giving up. But Munich is undefeated at home this year and they had a pool of 60 players to choose from so this was defiantly an uphill battle. Julian, the Munich captain, later told me that his was the strongest team they’d assembled all year. In the end, we lost the game but no one seemed upset. We all played our best and had a lot of fun against the team that will probably win it all this year. Well done Emus!
The train ride home was a blast! We bought a couple of cases of beer and had a great time getting to know each other a little bit better. The Emus even added a new word to their lexicon, something to do with mushrooms…
See ya at training,
Guy
